Metal: Inside and Out
Explore the different strengths of metal by examining the metal sculpture of Joe Muench, associate professor in Art and Design, and understanding the research of Iver Anderson, professor in Materials Science and Engineering. The two professors will share their diverse knowledge of metal by utilizing props along with objects from the current Integrated Studio Arts faculty exhibition ReLationShips.

ArtWalk – New Sites & Old Favorites
Join Nancy Gebhart, educator of visual literacy and learning, as she takes you on a tour of new sites and old favorites from the Art on Campus Collection. This tour will begin with Fountain of the Four Seasons by Christian Petersen and will also explore additional public works of art in and around the Memorial Union. Visual literacy has proven to increase communication and critical thinking skills, so why not spend your lunch learning with University Museums! Meet Nancy outside the north entrance of the Memorial Union.
The Fighting Sullivans - Film
This is one of the most heart-warming films ever made from the true story of the legend of the Sullivan family from Waterloo, Iowa whose five sons died fighting side by side in World War II. The only ship ever named for more than one person, The U.S.S. The Sullivans was commissioned by the Navy as a posthumous tribute. More than a war movie, this film is a fantastic account of the American spirit.

Haunted Iowa State
University Museums grows a little spookier this October for its annual Haunted Iowa State event. Explore a few campus locations with a haunted and historic reputation, and investigate Iowa State’s past at “sites of fright” that include the Campanile, ISU campus cemetery, the Memorial Union, Farm House Museum, and others. Meet at 7:00PM at the Campanile on central campus, north of the Memorial Union – maps will be distributed promptly at 7:00PM! Bring a flashlight and join us... if you dare!
The event will feature tours of the Farm House Museum, along with ghost stories, raffle prizes, ghoulishly fun games, and refreshments. The museums’ new line of clothing will also be available for sale, along with an inside look into the “hidden spaces” of Farm House not seen by the general public. Come dressed as you favorite artist (living or dead) or favorite work of art. Costumes are optional but encoraged, and the entire event is free and open to the public.
Don’t forget to also take in the museums’ annual Haunted ISU event, held on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 pm on Iowa State’s central campus. This is sure to be a night of creepy fun that you won’t want to miss! For more information call 515.294.3342.
