ArtWalk – New Sites & Old Favorites
Join University Museums Director, Lynette Pohlman, on a tour of new sites and old favorites from the Art on Campus Collection. This tour will focus on the Elizabeth and Byron Anderson Sculpture Garden and its current exhibition of Bill Barrett, Albert Paley and Christian Petersen sculptures. Confronting the reality of death enables us to bring courage, grace, compassion and creativity into our lives. Join Cindy Gould, associate professor in Art and Design, and Jennifer Margrett, associate professor in Human Development and Family Studies, as they explore different responses to death, both the personal and the universal.

Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation. Mark your calendar from 12pm-1pm each Tuesday this month (Nov. 10th, 17th) and enjoy the 150 year old structure in a whole new way. After tea, all are welcome to join a guided tour that will highlight different topics each week, including the Farm House’s restoration, children in the Victorian age, and rituals, ceremonies, and traditions of the era.

Veteran’s Day Open House
The wars of the twentieth century, their losses and their toll
on humanity are a frequent and important theme in the work
of Christian Petersen. Though he is often known as “the gentle
sculptor,” Petersen gave much attention to the subject of warfare.
In honor of Veteran’s Day and all military veterans, University
Museums will be giving tours of the exhibition All the Evils:
Christian Petersen and the Art of War from 11:00 am until 4:00
pm. The community is also invited to a special Gold Star Hall
ceremony honoring veterans and their families in the Memorial
Union’s Great Hall beginning at 2:30 pm.
Mind, Material and Borrowed Time
Bringing the anatomy of animals together with digital art, this presentation addresses how we borrow from our natural environment to exam, understand, and view the physical world. Between the scientific and artistic perspectives, both presenters will explain how they approach the physical presence of animals in manipulating nature's materials so they can see and show what they want to see, need to see, and create new ways of seeing. Wolfgang Weber works in the field of Veterinary Anatomy in support of the teaching laboratories. Carol Faber teaches within the Art and Design Department with her research emphasis in digital imagery and intuitive ways of working with technologies.

Glassblowing is an ancient art that has undergone many technical and conceptual changes through the centuries. What makes 20th century sculptural glass different from what came before? What unites these artists’ visions with those of previous gaffers? Explore contemporary glass techniques with guide and gaffer Amanda Hall and hear the story of the artists behind the most recent revolutions in glassblowing.
