Curriculum Specific Projects

University Museums is foremost an educational resource for Iowa State University students, faculty, and staff. The University Museums staff works side by side with departments, faculty members, and student groups to provide an environment that fosters visual literacy and physical and intellectual access, as well as creativity. Our programs are tailored to the diversity of our university and address an audience comprised of students, academics, alumni, and community members.

University Museums as an Educational Resource

University Museums hosts a variety of educational programs that vary from hands on object lessons to gallery talks with artists and expert scholars.  All programs are designed to educate and inform audiences about visual literacy, current exhibitions, and University Museums collections.  University Museums assists faculty who require attendance at these programmatic offerings through the issuance of a “Culture Card” to students. Students who attend University Museums programs will have their card stamped at the end of the program documenting their attendance. Culture cards can be obtained through the University Museums office in 290 Scheman or can be sent through campus mail by contacting the education staff at 515-294-4442 or dwitter@iastate.edu. Programs typically last one hour unless otherwise noted. For a list of upcoming programs click here.
