Gather around the fireplace in the Farm House Museum parlor to hear Victorian fables, follies and fairytales. These stories are a bit darker than children’s stories of today. This in-person program will be livestreamed on YouTube. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Athletics and the depiction of the human form is a vital theme in both Iowa State’s history and the Art on Campus Collection. Museums Docent Steve Petska will lead an art walk in connection with the Honoring Jack Trice exhibition at the Christian Petersen Museum.

For Part 1 of Words Meet Art with Ames Writers Collective, participants will receive a guided tour of Harriet Bart: Material Alchemy to educate and inspire creativity. An introduction to “writing to writing prompts” will follow with writing sessions to connect writers to the exhibition.

Writers who participated in Words Meet Art Part 1 will present their flash fiction, poems, creative nonfiction, a monologue, and/or perform music in response to the exhibition Harriet Bart: Material Alchemy in the Christian Petersen Art Museum.

John Hill, ISU professor emeritus of physics and a Quester, will discuss naturally produced glass followed by an examination of glass making from prehistoric times until the modern era. This program includes a reception.

Scott transforms ancient beaded story-telling with ever-inventive newness, humor, serious playfulness, and power. Lecture presented by Dr. Henry John Drewal, Evjue-Bascom Professor Emeritus of Art History and Afro-American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Visit the new exhibition Telling Tales and spin tall tales about the art on exhibit! Participants will enjoy a short lecture and tour of the new exhibition, then draw and critique narrative triptychs of the artwork. Session will be led by Taylor Carlson, Assistant Professor in Animation & Graphic Design and amateur comic enjoyer.

In connection to the Growing Up Victorian exhibition at the Farm House Museum, join Museums Docent Rae Reilly on an art walk centered on depictions of families and domesticity in the Art on Campus Collection.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED Museum staff members Sydney Marshall and Caitlin Patton along with ISU Creamery staff will present a joint tour of the ISU Creamery and the public works of art located in the Food Sciences Building. Meet outside the front entrance of Food Sciences.

Quester and antique dealer Gloria Dobbs will share her expertise in glass objects that closely associate with early pattern glass, namely novelties, canes, and other “knick-knacks” made in glass. This program includes a reception.

Learn more about the behind-the-scenes in managing these multi-year projects, how to best utilize each publication online, and what the future holds for scholarship at University Museums.
