During the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, a monumental meeting was held on the fairgrounds: the World’s Parliament of Religions. It was the first gathering of its type that welcomed an array of religious leaders from around the world. This presentation discusses how religion was represented at world’s fairs and the significance of these sites for the development of religious pluralism and the academic study of religion.
