The Iowa weather extremes take their toll on anything that lives outdoors and this includes the many exterior public works of art in the Art on Campus Collection. Francis Miller, of Conserve ART LLC, has been cleaning, repairing and restoring the University Museums collection for over 25 years.
Miller will be on campus for about three weeks this fall where he will work on both indoor and outdoor sculptures. "People don't often realize the importance of maintaining works of art," he said. "Proper care is imperative to maintain the artist's original work and ensure ongoing beauty for generations to come."
Miller and University Museums' Assistant Curator Sydney Marshall will be working in several campus locations, including Bravo III by Bill Barrett at the west entrance of the Gerdin Business Building, various Gwynn Murrill bronze animal sculptures at Veterinary Medicine complex and Conversations by Christian Petersen.
