The Brunnier Art Museum's current exhibition Artists in Iowa: The First Century was featured in the December 2019 issue of American Art Review. The six-page spread includes a summary written by guest curator Dr. Lea Rosson DeLong.

"The University Museums has built on this legacy and is one of the most active collectors, preservers, and advocates for the art of Iowa. With the commitment of patrons who understand and support the Museums' mission, its collections have expanded with commissioned works of art by dozens of artists and acquisitions of many other artworks both contemporary and historic. Exhibitions of the art of Grant Wood, Christian Petersen, John Bloom and other Iowa artists have long been researched and presented, usually with accompanying publications. Artists in Iowa: The First Century is the Museums' first major attempt to present a comprehensive narrative of the development of art in the state."
